We found the White Barn Inn online and loved its captivating charm from the photos – so decided to make Maine our destination!
The Inn was pricey so we booked it during off season to get the best deal. April was definitely chilly (not SUPER cold though). We had weather in the 50s and 60s. The main thing about going during off season is that a lot of attractions like sailing are closed until June. So depending on what you want to do during the day you may want to book during busy season. We chose to fly into Boston because there were more flight options but the closet airport was Portland. It was a 1.5 hour drive from Boston and we stopped in Portsmouth on the way to grab lunch. FYI- We rented a car.

Our itinerary:
Friday:
Landed in Boston and grabbed rental car
Lunch at Row in Portsmouth
Check in to White Barn Inn
Grab bikes and go into town to explore
Cocktails at the Inns bar (try to get a seat at the piano. It was perfect!)
Dinner at Earth (pricey but such a cool vibe)
Saturday:
Coffee by the fire in the room
Walked along Goose Rocks Beach
Lunch at Boathouse
Shopped in the town
Wine and cheese tasting at the Inn
Cocktails and games at the Inn (they had a cozy game room with a fire going)
Dinner at the Inn
Sunday:
Spa appointment
Check out and drive back to Boston to fly home

The details and service at the hotel were amazing. It’s a small property but such a quaint, charming yet luxurious vibe! We had an adorable welcome basket with local snacks waiting on us in our room….If you want coffee in the morning they bring it in a wicker basket looking like it came straight from a farm.
At checkout they gave us WARM cookies and bottled water for our ride back to Boston.
And the bikes are free to take whenever you want to bike around town.

I saw they had a Lexus SUV driving guests around town but we didn’t use it because we either biked or took our own rental car.
It was the perfect girls weekend spot!
If we went during the busy Summer season I would have loved to go sailing. They had some 2 hour tours that looked fun. And the Inn had a pool that would be great to relax by in the Summer.

I definitely recommend staying at the White Barn Inn. If you have questions, let me know and I’ll answer what I know.
