I figured it was easier to answer questions from Instagram in a blog post that way you can come back and reference it!
We booked a long weekend at the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar for a girls trip and the most asked question was did we like it / would we recommend it. My answer is yes. The property was pretty, rooms were decent, food/drinks were great AND it’s only 10 min from the airport!
The property is HUGE. 3 hotels sharing one large property (we’re talking 12 pools total):
Rosewood – Luxury, quiet and expensive
Grand Hyatt – Where the families stay – you can find kid pools or quiet pools
SLS – Where the younger crowd stays because it’s a party vibe. Music all day and night!
We would have loved to stay at Rosewood or SLS but they were more expensive so we stayed at the Grand Hyatt. The resort is not all inclusive so make sure you budget for $25 entrees and $18 cocktails (+tips are automatically added to your bill). The good news is the portions were large and the drinks were not weak.
What we did:
Friday – Flew in that morning. Lunch and lounging at one of the pools at Grand Hyatt. Dinner at Fi’lia.
Saturday – SLS day club pool (12pm – 6pm). Dinner at Costa.
Sunday – Waterpark in the morning and then lunch and lounging back at a Grand Hyatt pool. Left that afternoon
There is no storage of nightlife happening after dinner:
- DJ in the lobby of SLS or their rooftop bar
- Casino in the Grand Hyatt
- Piano bar in the Grand Hyatt
- Cigar bar in SLS
- Bougee cocktail bar in Rosewood
The only complaint I can think of is we didn’t get a room until 5:30pm. Check in STARTS at 4pm and you’re not guaranteed a room right at 4pm. They will hold your luggage and give you a room to change into so you can enjoy the property while you wait. It’s also worth noting that you need to make dinner reservations ASAP after you book. The restaurants fill up fast because the resort is so big. Same can be said for the pool and beach chairs. They will be taken by 1pm so get breakfast and go grab chairs by 11am. You can also reserve chairs and cabanas for a pretty penny – meaning it’s pricey. We rented chairs at the SLS day club pool and it was expensive but a fun day.
One thing you might not do (unless you are going with kiddos) is go to the water park onsite. But let me tell you, we had a blast going down the water slides! Highly recommend an activity to break up the sunbathing! And the one thing I wish we had done was checked out the Beach Club. It has an infinity pool that looks out at the beach. I think you need a reservation to get chairs in there though.
That’s all I can think of for now. Hope this was helpful đ
